The Métis Research Laboratory: impact research that is expanding and structuring in each of its territories
EM Normandie Business School deploys an ambitious research strategy, driven and supported by a number of chairs, research contracts and expert missions, in order to provide answers to the economic players in its regions and contribute to public policy issues. Within the Métis Research Laboratory, the project leaders act as genuine interfaces between the academic and socio-economic worlds, encouraging the creation and transmission of trans-disciplinary knowledge and know-how:
- The "Skills, employabiliy and HR Decision Making" Chair directed by Jean Pralong, professor in digital HR and career management;
- The "Digitalisation and Innovation in Organisations and Regions" Chair directed by Mathilde Aubry, professor in economics;
- The "Entrepreneurial Models in Agriculture" Chair directed by Roland Condor, associate professor in entrepreneurship;
- The European chair of excellence "Circular Economy and Territories" directed by Sébastien Bourdin, professor in economic geography. Launched in 2024, the Jean Monnet Chair is funded by the European Union. Its aim is to make it easier to implement the circular economy by offering the tools, knowledge and appropriate support to local players - businesses, public authorities and citizens.
- EM Roads Institute, created and directed by Jean Pralong, is an ecosystem for research and knowledge transfer on employment. It produces analyses of changes in skills requirements, HR practices and career paths. These analyses enable it to propose new practices, particularly digital practices, for developing and recognising employability. The institute hosts the ‘Skills, Employability & HR Decision-making’ chair, the Skills and Career Paths Observatory and the Workplace Learning Observatory.
- The CERCAP, "Centre d’Études et de recherche sur les commerces et artisans de proximité" (Centre for Studies and Research on Local Shops and Artisans), created and directed by Vincent Dutot, professor in Information Systems Management and Digital Marketing. CERCAP is the world's leading centre for studies and research into local shops and craftsmen. It is particularly interested in the factors involved in the creation and transfer of local businesses, their impact on the attractiveness of towns and cities, and the success factors (technology, experience, maturity, proximity) of local businesses. This multi-dimensional approach enables us to understand how these businesses adapt and prosper in a changing urban and technological context, highlighting their crucial role in the dynamics of local communities.
The development of research at EM Normandie Business School can also be seen in the significant increase in research publications in the most prestigious journals such as Human Resource Management, Journal of Business Ethics, Management Science, Journal of Management Studies, Research Policy, Administrative Science Quarterly, etc.
Innovative teaching methods and Artificial Intelligence
Exploiting the potential of Artificial Intelligence to revolutionise the way we learn and teach, and creating learning environments that are adapted to our needs, while ensuring respect for ethics. EM Normandie Business School has already got to grips with this issue by launching the ‘WARD’ platform: the first application in the world of Grandes Écoles based on Artificial Intelligence. WARD is a tailor-made tool that can be accessed anywhere and at any time, enabling students to play an active role in their career path, their progress and their employability. The application will also eventually be available to graduates.
With its QUALIA EdTech department, EM Normandie Business School is constantly exploring new ways of learning that are ever more immersive, interactive, fun and gamified. Augmented reality, 3D printing, robotics, artificial intelligence: technology is integrated into every aspect of learning. It is also used as a department for academic excellence in the Métis Lab.
