Inclusion at EM Normandie
Disability
Party to the Conférence des Grandes Ecoles (CGE)’s Disability Charter since 2008, and having renewed its commitment in 2019, the School has a comprehensive system in place to promote the inclusion of students with disabilities. It campaigns to facilitate learning, encourage students to continue their studies whilst enjoying an active social life within the School, and enable them to successfully integrate into the business world.
All our campuses are accessible to people with disabilities. We have implemented specific facilities to guarantee an inclusive environment adapted to everyone's needs. Our accommodation plans are regularly updated and can be consulted on request to ensure up-to-date information.
- Learning adjustments
- Digital access
- Special training for teachers and support services
EM Normandie also co-leads the “Handicap” group within the Conférence des Grandes Écoles, which advocates the inclusion of students with specific needs (impaired mobility, cognitive and sensory disorders, medical conditions, etc.) in French business and engineering schools.
Are you disabled or suffering from a chronic, debilitating illness?
At EM Normandie, you will be offered a full range of support when it comes to classes and exams, looking for an internship, work-study programme or job, and preparing to work or study abroad.
Our aim is to make your daily life easier so that you can focus on what’s important- your success.
In 2016, we had 17 students disabled students registered with us. Fast forward to 2021 and that figure is over 190. EM Normandie is clearly disability-friendly! Disability should not be a personal struggle. As a proactive and united community, we need to address it together. Both higher education providers and you, the students, and future managers need to be involved in this process. We are very proud of the progress we have made over recent years. Together we have established a trusting environment which has removed any negative or restrictive concepts of disability. We now recognise that it is multifaceted. Students with a disability should not be discriminated against, but instead be able to exercise their rights and have access to the additional support that they need. We have therefore implemented a range of initiatives in all areas to guarantee inclusion and equal opportunities, including a dedicated support department for students with a disability, association projects to raise awareness, training for teaching and administrative staff, learning adjustments, telepresence robots and special support for foreign placements and development of professional skills. We plan to continue our progress in this area, so that not only can you experience a ‘normal’ academic experience, but also one in which you are able to achieve your goals!

Conférence des Grandes Écoles Diversity Conference
On 28 and 29 June 2022, EM Normandie and the CGE organised the Conférence des Grandes Écoles Diversity Conference. This year, the theme of the event was “Inclusion and Diversity: Grandes Ecoles taking action!”
Diversity
EM Normandie works actively to promote social inclusion
The Wellbeing and Inclusion department has been running campaigns on this topic since 2018.
EM Normandie works alongside the Entreprendre pour Apprendre federation, which connects companies and young students to give everyone the power to develop their ideas and personality. Through its status as a member of the board of directors and via its involvement in the Wi-Filles scheme, the school also supports the FACE Normandie foundation (Fondation Agir Contre l'Exclusion/Taking Action Against Exclusion Foundation) which combats discrimination and poverty.
The Wi-Filles scheme aims to introduce all aspects of digital technology to young female volunteers aged 14 to 17, from schools located in deprived areas of Caen and Le Havre. This collaboration reinforces EM Normandie's commitment to gender equality.
EM Normandie is committed to gender equality
EM Normandie fosters a truly inclusive culture and respect for differences through numerous awareness-raising campaigns that promote gender equality and respect for sexual orientation, and combat any form of discrimination.
The School is committed to providing a safe and caring environment for its students, so that everyone can freely express their potential. Whatever your gender identity or sexual/romantic orientation, rest assured that EM Normandie is at your side to allow you to simply be you. As a signatory since 2022 of the LGBT+ commitment charter of the association l'Autre Cercle, drafted in partnership with Caélif as well as the FAGE and with the support of the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research and the Student Observatory of Sexual and Sexist Violence in Higher Education, the School has just reaffirmed its commitments. EM Normandie's objectives are to train its employees in the inclusion of LGBTQIA+ people, to set up non-sexist spaces on its campuses, to raise awareness among its students and student associations... In case of discrimination, harassment or sexual and gender-based violence, the STOP Harassment system will protect each EM Normandie student.
