Accreditation of Prior Learning (VAE)
The certification obtained through the VAE has the same status as certification obtained through traditional training. It enables individuals to secure their career path, gain recognition and access career development opportunities.
For companies, collective VAE meets skills management needs, values employees, develops their employability and reinforces their professional reputation.
Summary
What is VAE?
VAE is an individual right that allows you to obtain a diploma, either in full or in part (validation of skill sets), by recognising the skills you have acquired through your professional or personal experience.
These may include the following experiences:
- Professional activity, whether paid or unpaid;
- Volunteering or voluntary work;
- Registration on the high-level athletes list;
- Trade union responsibilities;
- Local electoral mandate or local elected office;
- Participation in solidarity economy activities;
- Training or internship period.
Regardless of your age, nationality, status or level of education, the important thing is to ensure that your skills are relevant and in line with the qualification you are aiming for.

The VAE programme
- Advice on EM Normandie degrees:
Get in touch with the VAE admissions officer - Feasability:
-
- Registration on France VAE
- Selection of RNCP certification
- Compilation of the feasibility file (electronic), with or without the assistance of a Career Support Architect (France VAE).
- Admissibility of the application: EM Normandie reviews the feasibility file and issues an opinion (favourable/unfavourable) determining the next steps in the process.
- Preparation of the validation file: explanation of the experience, supported by evidence (a template file is provided). This step, which may or may not be accompanied by a Career Support Architect (optional but strongly recommended), requires organisation and personal time.
-
Defence of the validation file in front of an EM Normandie jury, which may grant full validation of the certification, partial validation (certain skill sets have been acquired) or non-validation.
The file must enable the jury to assess whether you have mastered the skills to the level expected by the degree's reference framework. During the interview, you will have time to make a presentation, after which the jury will ask you in-depth questions to obtain further details on certain aspects of your experience and achievements.
Two VAE juries meet each year (June, November) and take place in person on the EM Normandie campuses (Clichy, Caen, Le Havre).
